Note on sensitive data: Where sensitive personal data — such as health conditions or disability status — is relevant to a candidate's job placement (e.g. for roles with specific physical requirements), this will only be collected with the individual's express consent and for that stated purpose only.

For candidates
- Evaluating suitability for employment opportunities and matching candidates to relevant roles

- Facilitating work pass applications with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) or other government bodies
- Communicating updates on application status and new opportunities
- Maintaining records for ongoing representation and future placements
- Complying with applicable employment laws and regulatory requirements
For clients
- Fulfilling recruitment mandates and communicating candidate profiles
- Administering service agreements and processing invoices

4. Basis for Collection — Consent and Legitimate Interests
Personal data is collected:
- With consent — for example, when a candidate submits a résumé or completes a registration form with Orient Consulting

- Government agencies — such as the Ministry of Manpower, Workforce Singapore, and the Central Provident Fund (CPF) Board, where legally required
- Third-party service providers — including IT service providers, background screening companies, and email systems, all of whom are required to maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection obligations
- Professional advisers — such as legal counsel or external auditors, in connection with our business operations
Orient Consulting does not sell personal data to any third party for commercial or marketing purposes.
6. Transfer of Data Outside Singapore
In limited circumstances, personal data may be transferred outside Singapore — for example, where a client is headquartered overseas or where cloud-based systems are hosted internationally. Any such transfer is subject to comparable standards of protection as required under the PDPA, including contractual safeguards with receiving parties.
7. Retention and Disposal
Personal data is retained only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Notice, or as required by applicable law. Our standard retention periods are:
- Active candidates: Duration of engagement plus up to two (2) years
- Placed candidates: Up to two (2) years after placement, or as required by client agreements
- Client records: In accordance with the Companies Act and other statutory requirements (typically five to seven years)
- Website enquiries: Up to one (1) year, unless converted to an active engagement
When personal data is no longer required, it is securely deleted from our systems or anonymised in an irreversible manner.
8. Data Protection Measures
Orient Consulting takes reasonable precautions to protect personal data from unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal, or similar risks. Our measures include:
